Zakat on Gold Calculator — Saudi Riyal (SAR)
Enter each gold piece by weight and purity. The calculator checks the 85 g niṣāb on your pure-gold content and shows the 2.5% due in grams and live Saudi Riyal value (SAR 495.08/g today) — built for how families actually hold gold: mixed 22k jewelry, coins and bars, in grams or tolas.
1. The gold
List each piece with its weight and purity — that's all that matters. A 22k bangle and a 22k coin of the same weight contain exactly the same gold; everything below is compared by its pure-gold content (weight × karat ÷ 24). Purity is stamped (hallmarked) on most pieces.
Total pure gold: 0.00 g

3. Zakat due
Your 0.00 g of pure gold is below the niṣāb of 85 g — no zakat is due on this gold alone.
If you also hold cash, silver or trade goods, many scholars apply the lower silver niṣāb to the combined wealth — this calculator covers gold only.
Zakat falls due after one lunar year (ḥawl) of continuous possession at or above the niṣāb. This calculator shows what would be due today.
Informational only — not a fatwa. Niṣāb basis: 20 mithqāl ≈ 85 g of pure gold at the contemporary gram standard. Verify with a qualified scholar.
Frequently asked questions
What is the niṣāb for gold?
The gold niṣāb is 20 mithqāl — about 85 g of pure gold at the contemporary standard (1 mithqāl ≈ 4.25 g). If your pure-gold content is at or above 85 g and has been for a full lunar year, zakat is due at 2.5%. This calculator normalizes every piece to pure grams (weight × karat ÷ 24) before checking the niṣāb.
Is zakat due on jewelry that is worn?
It depends on the school. The Ḥanafī view: all gold is zakatable, worn or not — this is the calculator's default. The majority (Shāfiʿī, Mālikī, Ḥanbalī) view exempts jewelry in customary personal use; switch the calculator's method toggle and mark the pieces you actually wear to follow it.
How is the zakat value in Saudi Riyal calculated?
The 2.5% due is computed in grams of pure gold, then valued at the live international spot price converted to Saudi Riyal — currently about SAR 495.08 per gram. You may pay in gold or its cash equivalent; the value shown is today's, so revalue on the day you actually pay.
What is the ḥawl?
Zakat becomes due after your wealth has stayed at or above the niṣāb for one full lunar year (the ḥawl). This calculator shows what would be due today; anchor your own zakat date to when your holdings first reached the niṣāb.
